The construction of the trebuchet was actually a school project in which the 9th grade Ancient History class at New Covenant Schools in Lynchburg.  We were given rough guide lines and were then asked to submit a materials list.  I designed some rough models as cgi 's in a wire frame mode on a computer to give a bearing as to what we would need.  Of course drawing a trebuchet and building one are two entirely different ball games.  Below are the images that we were aiming to duplicate.

As we began to construct the trebuchet, we realized that major adjustments had to be made.  Some things were not necessary where as some other thins were greatly lacking.  Basically we redesigned the structure as we went along, keeping the important details such as the fulcrum position in the same position.  Below are the models of what the trebuchet actually looked like when we were done with it.
